Our staff would like to share a story with you while you are learning at home. Hopefully, we will be able to upload one of us reading a story, poem or piece of non-fiction, on an almost daily basis during this school closure period.
Mrs Horn writes:
It seems it is my turn first, so here goes. I filmed this yesterday, in the garden, with my iPad propped up against a washing basket! I have no high-tech equipment but hopefully it has fulfilled the purpose.
I have chosen to read a poem by Allan Ahlberg, who is my favourite children’s author. You may know his other books such as ‘Peepo’, ‘Each Peach Pear Plum’ and my absolute favourite, the wonderful ‘The Jolly Postman’.
The poem, I am reading, is the first in the ‘Please Mrs Butler’ poetry book. It was written in 1983 so may have dated a little but it reminds me of what it was like in school in those times. I have also put some photos of the text of the poem in case the children would like to read it aloud too…
(You can see Allan Ahlberg, the author, reading ‘Peepo’ at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H_3bRQFs7Sc).
Check back tomorrow, when Mr Hustler will be sharing a story.
